MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL DIRECTOR
Welcome
I am pleased to extend our warm welcome to you personally and jointly as key stakeholders in this very important business of co-creating knowledge. It is my sincere hope that having interacted with us via our website you shall proceed to participate in a number of our activities, inclusive of our upcoming AMEC 2026 Conference. Furthermore, that you shall stay put and become part of the growing AMEC Family. Thank you very much and you are most welcome!
Theory-Practice Gap
Turning to the primary purpose of this Africa Management and Entrepreneurship Conference (AMEC), we are passionate about exploring and providing various knowledge solutions so as to improve business and society. To this end, a major focus in all we do is how best we can plug the theory practice gap.
Interdisciplinarity
While acknowledging different paradigms for knowledge discovery and creation, we largely encourage the use of interdisciplinary perspectives. To this end, I wish to welcome all presenters to our AMEC conferences to feel free to exploit any philosophical positioning of their choice.
Engaged Scholarship
Recognizing the prevalence of several key stakeholders or actors in a given phenomenon, in the same light of interdisciplinarity, I wish to encourage all of us to strive to deepen our engaged scholarship. When ourselves as academia, remove or reduce the disconnect between ourselves and other social actors such as business owners, employees, general public, policy makers, industry associations, just to mention only a few, the more we get clearer insights about the why, how and so what questions. Also, the much easier for us to contextualize our results or findings.
Relevance and Impact
What makes AMEC and all our work including our publications is our string focus on relevance and impact. Therefore, as you submit your papers and make presentations during our conferences, always question the relevance and impact factors.
Rake
We are also distinct in how we take concerted efforts to establish vibrant communities of practice for the crucial purpose of Research and Knowledge Exchange (RAKE). In this regard, I cordially invite you to join either Academy of SME Fellowship or Academy of Management and Economic Research Fellowship. Being an ASME Fellow or AMER Fellow will without doubt catapult your career and help you realize your full potential, be it as an academic or industry professional.
AMEC in 5-10 years
We are very much excited that we are commencing AMEC 2026: A new dawn indeed! Five to ten years from today, AMEC shall go beyond being a conference to becoming a major most preferred cradle for discovery and co-creation of high impact knowledge solutions.
In conclusion, thank you very much for your indulgence! I commend AMEC 2026 to you and I look forward to hosting you.
Regards
Dr Charlie
